  • 20 g coffee (medium grind)

  • 320 g filtered water

 


 

EQUIPMENT

 

 

  • Kalita Wave dripper (185 size)

  • Kalita Wave paper filter

  • Kettle (gooseneck preferred)

  • Scale and timer

  • Mug or carafe

METHOD

 

 

  1. Rinse Filter – Place the Kalita Wave filter into the dripper and rinse well with hot water to preheat and remove paper flavor.

  2. Add Coffee – Use 20 g of freshly ground coffee. Shake gently to level the bed.

  3. Bloom (0:00–0:30) – Pour 40 g of water in gentle spirals. Allow 30 seconds to bloom.

  4. Second Pour (0:30–1:00) – Pour in stages up to 150 g total, maintaining steady flow.

  5. Third Pour (1:00–1:45) – Continue pouring up to 250 g total.

  6. Final Pour (1:45–2:15) – Finish with the last 70 g to reach 320 g total.

  7. Drawdown (~3:00) – Let the water fully pass through without agitation.

  8. Serve & Swirl – Once dripping stops, swirl gently before serving.
