INGREDIENTS

 

 

  • 30 g coffee (medium-coarse grind)

  • 450 g filtered water

 


 

EQUIPMENT

 

 

  • 6-cup Chemex

  • Chemex paper filter

  • Kettle (gooseneck recommended)

  • Scale and timer

METHOD

 

 

  1. Prepare Filter – Place the folded Chemex filter with the triple layer toward the spout. Rinse thoroughly with hot water and discard rinse water.

  2. Add Coffee – Measure 30 g of coffee (medium-coarse grind, similar to sea salt) and level the bed.

  3. Bloom (0:00–0:45) – Pour 60 g of water evenly over the grounds. Let it bloom for 45 seconds to degas.

  4. Main Pour (0:45–1:45) – Pour water in slow, circular motions up to 300 g total.

  5. Final Pour (1:45–2:45) – Continue pouring to reach 450 g total.

  6. Drawdown (~4:00) – Allow water to pass completely through the bed.

  7. Swirl & Serve – Swirl gently to mix before serving for uniform flavor.
